I started looking at baby items on Target.com. Although I have done a lot of child care and I know that some of them are just conveniences and not necessities (i.e. diaper wipe warmers)- I also know that there will be some things that I need and don't know about yet.
I'm curious - what are the items that you were most thankful for when you had your babies? What are the less-than-obvious products that you used the most? Is there anything that is often requested on registries, but result in wasted money? Is there anything that you got and never used? Are there items that you didn't think about asking for and ended up needing later? Any input in this area would be much appreciated!!

I think one thing we got that we never actually used would be the diaper genie. They are kind of hard to use and we ended up just putting the dirty diapers in a grocery bag and tying it up and tossing it out. Also one thing we got a never really used was the little baskets that the nipples and caps go into for the dishwasher. We just take them apart put then in the dishwasher like a normal glass and it works just fine. (if your bottle feeding) One thing I get a lot of use out of even now is (once again if you bottle feed) is those plastic containers that are divided in three and you can put the right amount of powdered formula in and take with you instead of the whole can. I use it at night as well, I get it set up before bed with a bottle of water all ready to go so when he wakes up crying it's right there to mix together and takes like no time. I think that's about it, hope I helped.
Love ya!

OK, Steff...We're talking a long time ago! Lots of receiving blankets. Wrap that little babe up in a warm cocoon, spread it out wherever you are so baby doesn't have to be on a surface that you don't know what was on it before!!! You'll need a lot of them because they get spit up on, pee-d and pooped on, set on the above mentioned mystery surface, etc. They work just fine as an emergency burp rag, too.

first of all, can't wait until you guys find out! I can't wait either. its fun to be able to talk to the baby and call it 'he' or 'she'...not just 'baby'. we didn't use a diaper genie either...they are a pain...but I heard there is one that works good...no twisty bags and stuff. you don't need a diaper warmer or for boys those little pee-pee teepees...Need lots of onesies. definitely want a 'hooter hider' if you are breastfeeding and the formula dispenser that sarah13 talked about if you are formula feeding.
